We got away early enough to make it to the Bay and find it with just a 5 or 10 minute lineup. So in we went to powershop before having to head to Hockey Place. I bought myself a red Canada t-shirt and a black quilted Canada jacket. Doug picked up a black pullover hoodie, a long sleeve dry fit shirt and a baseball cap.
Then off to the arena.
The Sardis Falcons Drumline was playing outside the arena, if you ever get a chance to see this crew in action...check it out, it was fabulous. I can only hope that my kids get the opportunity to be a part of a drumline because it was rockin'.
It was pretty much a cheer for Switzerland crowd, well except for the few hundred Americans that made the journey up to watch. But the sea of red (Team Canada red) was definitely cheering for the Swiss and could often be heard chanting GO SUISSE GO SUISSE. Switzerland definitely held there own and made USA work for their goals. I think we're seeing a tide of change in the ability and competition in International hockey.
After that we hit Dix, but didn't like our seats, so we headed up Robson street to Hamilton because Doug thought he knew a place up there, but then we saw Rosies on Robson and got fabulous seats in there. That place was wild. When Canada scored the first goal, I was sure I would be voiceless and deaf by the end of the night. I nearly was.
Then off to the Four Nations pavillion. They have a great 9 minute show on the First Nations of Canada, especially the four of the Vancouver area.
