He's a Lover Not a Biter...

When we were in the thick of the biting toddler stage, I couldn't see the possibility that I'd be sitting here today on the 6th birthday of Morgan describing him as a calm, gentle, sweet natured boy.

Morgan's labour started during the longest Canucks game in history (at least I think it was). It was a play off game, don't ask me against who, or what the score was but I realized sometime in the 3rd period that my labour was starting, so I went to bed and slept for a few hours. I was able to sleep and soak in the bath and do all that I could at home. At one point Doug thought it was time to head into Vancouver, I didn't think I was ready to, but off we went. After a brief stop at our friends place (they were out of town, but we were using their place as an option for being closer to the hospital) we arrived at the hosital aroud 10 am. I was 7 cm dilated and Morgan was born at 12:29pm. I still say it was a relatively easy birth and pretty pain free. I was over the moon when we discovered it was a boy and I recall saying, "It's a boy! We have a son!" Which is exactly how I wanted to start my family.

Morgan was an easy baby that loved being held and cuddled (thankfully there was always a set of arms for him), he was also very happy.

He didn't get into much trouble as a baby, just the usual sort. Like playing in the bathroom.

He did go through a terrible biting stage. Bit kids at daycare, kids at the playground and us. Then he started to talk, he started to be able to express himself in other ways and it disappeared. He was also a bit of a fighter, but that's pretty much gone too.

As he grew, his love of the the earth and learning was evident. He speaks often of wanting to "take care of the earth". Although he has reservations (okay, we'll call them fears) of watching most Disney movies, he'll spend hours watching Animal Planet and Planet Earth with animals devouring others ones. His favourite places to go are the Aquarium and Science World (we were so happy to receive memberships from LouLou and Granddad for gifts this year).

Morgan has also loves arts and crafts, you name it he wants to try it. Rarely does a day go by that he doesn't ask to do crafts.

Morgan also loves sports. He plays street hockey with the neighbourhood kids, soccer on the pitch, although he is finding a new love for baseball this spring. Fishing has become a new interest too.

Morgan started kindergarten in the fall and his love for school has not waned. He is doing well in his French Immersion and learning so much.

He loves life. He loves to try new things. He loves the outdoors. And we love him. Happy 6th birthday to the best little man we could have ever wished for.
