Fun in the Sun (warning - Photo Heavy)

I thought I'd share a few pics from this past weekend. Doug, the kids and I took off to Lang Bay again up on the Sunshine Coast. This time it lived up to it's name. We walked and walked in the low tides in the bright sun (even got a bit of a sunburn to show for it - Yikes!).

I couldn't believe the sand dollars we found, there were tons and tons of them. Of course when they are fuzzy like these, they are still living beings, so we left them in the sand, but we did find a couple of dozen empty ones to take home. I was in heaven as I adore sand dollars...childhood memories revisited.

And the starfish, they were just laying in the sand when the tide went out...poor things, but the kids loved exploring them.

Doug jokes about getting us with his lobster toes; he had fun teasing this crab. We found one crab in an area of the low tide, and then a couple more surprised me by checking out my feet, I was laughing and screeching at the same time. Then we realized there were a bunch of them in that area. The kids wouldn't go anywhere near there.

I couldn't believe it when the kids decided to go for a swim. And Doug too. The water was freezing. I kept to lying in the sun reading my book.

The kids even made us dinner one night...well, they roasted our dogs for us.

And then we roasted and ate a couple of marshmallows (American sized).

We also headed to a local beach near Powell River to play at a playground, where I made Tess a daisy chain headband.

It truly is a wonderful spot to be and we are loving spending time up there.

Oh and if anyone can tell me what flower this is, I'll be eternally grateful. Isn't it just one of the prettiest things you've ever seen? I must have it in my garden.

Hey, Erica - great pics! Growing up, I spent my summers in Powell River because my grandparents lived there. I have an eternal fondness for that area! What is your connection - do you have a cabin or family members there? Since my grandparents passed away, I've only been back a couple of times...I miss it!! That flower looks familiar...I'm spending a lot of time in garden centres right now, and reading gardening magazines - if I come across a name for that flower, I'll let you know!
